The fact that you equate usability improvements with n00bs, and feel offended by it, suggets that you don't really understand how a GUI is supposed to work. There are kernel improvments, usability improvements, PnP improvements, cleartype, etc. Objectively, this statement is incorrect. XP is just windows 2000 with a prettier interface. No, it's things like hitting Ctrl-Alt-Del then the space bar and locking your station in less than a second as you get up to walk away from it for a few minutes and don't want what is there to changeįor future reference, Windows Key + L will lock the computer, no other steps required. Otherwise it doesn't get past the 'starting windows screen' The biggest bonus is my GF likes playing mario cart for the N64 (which I'm running on a emulator) 2k would cause the second gamepad I have to stutter, while they both work fine in xp.Īs for the installation problem, I just threw in a pci video card from the start of install until the first boot, then put the geforce2mx400 back in and it works fine. Otherwise both 2k and XP have almost the exact same underlying subsystems. XP boots faster, shuts down faster, and with my and my GF using the comp I love the 'switch user' functionaliy. XP is slightly slower GUI wise, but then again it looks alot nicer. Both have compat mode for earlier games, both run the newer games just fine, both use pretty much the same drivers. Visontek geforce 2 mx 400 (64meg) įrom using both 2k for a long time and using xp for the last while.
